Lauren Orefice, Ph.D.

Lauren received her Ph.D. from Georgetown University in the lab of Dr. Baoji Xu. She then performed her postdoctoral studies in Dr. David Ginty’s lab at Harvard Medical School. The Orefice lab opened in early 2019 at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Lauren is the winner of the 2018 Regeneron Prize for Creative Innovation and the 2019 Eppendorf & Science Prize for Neurobiology. She is also a K99/R00 recipient (NINDS), a Klingenstein-Simons Fellow, a Smith Family Biomedical Research awardee, a Searle Scholar and a Pew Biomedical Research Scholar. Lauren is a 2021 New York Stem Cell Foundation Robertson Neuroscience Investigator and a 2022 McKnight Scholar.
